Skramstad Calls It A Career

• We are sending our best wishes to Shawn Skramstad, VP/Market Manager of Duke Wright’s Midwest Communications’ Duluth-Superior, MN group, who has announced his retirement, capping off a terrific 47-year broadcasting career.

Skramstad began his radio journey on the programming side before shifting over to sales. He spent some quality time in Minneapolis, working for KDWB, WCCO and KEEY before transitioning to Red Rock Radio in 1999, becoming company President and overseeing Red Rock’s Duluth-Superior market. Skramstad joined Midwest in 2017 when Red Rock sold the cluster to Duke Wright’s company.

Skramstad stated, “I appreciate finishing out my career with Midwest Communications. I’ve done everything that I wanted to do in this business and it’s been a great ride.” Midwest President & CEO Duke Wright offered his thanks and congratulations to Skramstad, commenting, “Shawn was instrumental in ensuring Midwest is the leading broadcasting operator in northern Minnesota with great facilities and the best people in the business.”

Director of Sales Scott Christensen will oversee the sales and day-to-day management operations until Skramstad’s successor is named.

Midwest Communications’ Duluth-Superior cluster consists of Classic Rock KQDS, Classic Country KDKE, AC KDAL (My 95.7), Country KTCO (Kat Country 98.9), News Talk 610 KDAL-AM, Talk WDSM and Sports-Talk WDUL-AM (970 The Game).
