‘U-Man’ Marks 45 Years At KSHE/St. Louis
• Tuesday, May 25, 2021, Hubbard Radio’s mighty KSHE-95/St. Louis will mark a momentous milestone — morning co-host John Ulett celebrates his 45th anniversary at the world’s longest running rock station.
Affectionately known as “U-Man,” Ulett joined KSHE in 1976 and is now the station’s longest, continuously broadcasting air talent. Currently the co-host of the KSHE Morning Rock Show alongside 30-year station vet Favazz, U-Man has been honored by the St. Louis Hall of Fame, was the recipient of RFT’s Lifetime Achievement Award 2001, received several honors from the Missouri Broadcasters Association (MBA), and made the Bishop DuBourg Wall of Fame. U-Man has also served as the public announcer for the St. Louis Cardinals for 38 years and has been a cast member of Cardinal Kids TV for 15 years.
KSHE-95 Brand Director Marty Linck commented, “John is a legend in St. Louis. Pretty much everyone in this city hears his voice regularly, not only on the radio but on TV and as the public address announcer at Busch Stadium. I literally grew up listening to him, so working with him all these years later is an amazing honor.” John Kijowski, VP/Market Manager of Hubbard Radio St. Louis, said, “U-Man is not only the best in the business, he’s also a great person.”
Ulett recently said, “There is only one way that an air personality could stay at a music radio station for 45 years… the same format, stable ownership/management and getting up when the alarm clock goes off every morning. I thank our listeners for being there the whole time.”
