Keith Abrams Joins Alpha Media Portland
• Nice to hear that veteran programmer Keith Abrams is solidly back in the game — RAMP has confirmed that Abrams is relocating to Alpha Media’s corporate home market of Portland, OR as Content Director for News-Talk KXL (FM News 101), Sports-Talk KXTG-AM (750 The Game) and Conservative Talk KUFO-AM (Freedom 970), effective Jan. 3.
Abrams will report to Portland Operations Manager, Gene Sandbloom, who said, “Celebrating its 95th year, KXL is one of the best performing local news radio stations in the country, with one of the smartest and highly motivated news teams anywhere. After an exhaustive search, we are very happy to welcome Keith Abrams to lead our Alpha Media News/Talk stations in Portland. His knowledge and lifelong commitment to great news is most welcome, as is his extensive format experience and love for sports, which will be a great addition to our team at 750 The Game.”
Abrams brings to Alpha Media nearly 30 years of leadership experience, most recently 13 years with iHeartMedia Cleveland as SVP of Programming and PD of WMMS and WMJI until Nov. 2020, when he was one of many downsized during a round of COVID-related cutbacks. Abrams’ previous programming stops include OM of CBS Radio Denver, and Corporate VP of Classic Hits, and PD of KBSG/Seattle, WWMG/Charlotte and WHTX/Pittsburgh.
Abrams commented, “Excited does not begin to describe how we feel about working for Alpha Media in Portland! I want to thank Bob Proffitt, Phil Becker, Lisa Decker, and Gene Sandbloom for the opportunity!”
