Your Missio… Should You Choose To Accept

Missio picWe’ve seen a lot of artists and bands play L.A.’s oh-so-trendy No Name Club over the past few years, but we’d be hard pressed to think of any act that managed to stretch those normally intimate confines with a sound as big — or a full-scale friggin’ light show as bright — as RCA’s talented act Missio, who are accurately described in their press kit as “Two bearded Austin, TX musical misfits with an affinity for D.I.Y. electronic/altproduction, clever lyrical quips, and sticky alternative hooks.”

They weren’t kidding… we were positioned very, very close to the stage as the guys tore through an energetic set that opened with “I Don’t Even Care About You” and continued with “I Do What I Want,” the awesome “Killing Darth Vader,” “Everybody Gets High,” “Bottom of The Deep Blue Sea,” “Twisted,” “DWI” and “I Don’t Give A…” before wrapping the set with their current single, the cleverly named “Middle Fingers,” inviting the capacity crowd to cheerfully share their own spirited middle-fingered salute during the choruses. It was great.

Afterwards, we all piled upstairs to talk, laugh, cry and pose for a bunch of photos. Here’s a good one that features, (l-r): KYSR (ALT 98.7)/L.A.‘s charming Andrew Harms, gleefully supported by RCA’s Mike Boccuzzi; ALT 98.7 PD Mike Kaplan, Missio’s David Butler, RAMP‘s Kevin Carter and Steve Resnik, RCA’s Danny Cooper, Missio’s Matthew Brue and RCA’s finger-pointing promo stud Artie Gentile. Thanks to everyone for one fun field trip!
