The River Finally Flows In Sacramento
After more than a week of unbearable suspense, iHeartMedia Sacramento made it official at 12:01am yesterday with the formal launch of Classic Rock 93.7 The River — formerly Adult Hits KQJK (93.7 Jack FM). As we recently reported, The River’s jock staff is loaded with seasoned market vets — the day leads off with the Dog and Joe Sho, hosted by Craig “Dog” Stalians and Joe Maumee, who most recently did afternoons at Entercom Active Rock KRXQ (98 Rock). Middays/production/creative services will be the domain of Monica Lowe, an eight-year veteran of the Creative Services department at Entercom Sacramento. She previously spent 16 years with CBS Radio’s KZZO.
New River afternoon personality Derek Moore notably spent 15 years in nights at Entercom Classic Rock KSEG (Eagle 96.9); for the past three years he’s been APD & Executive Producer of The Rise Guys show at Entercom Sports-Talk KIFM-AM (ESPN 1320). Moore will also serve as Director of Digital Content for the iHeartMedia cluster. Rounding out The River’s airstaff is the syndicated Sixx Sense at night.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring 93.7 The River to the River City,” said Curtiss Johnson, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Sacramento. “93.7 The River is built on The Dog & Joe Sho, a destination morning show with two wildly creative and beloved personalities, a redefined take on Classic Rock for 2017 and a passion and commitment to community we’ve embraced and called home for many years. 93.7 The River is a radio station uniquely crafted for Sacramento.”
Stalians (pictured, right, with Joe) said, “Having a new station like 93.7 The River built around your show is a rush few get to experience in their careers. Joe and I are humbled and flattered to be able to work with the insanely talented people at iHeartMedia Sacramento at a rock station that is uniquely Sacramento, right down to the station name. It’s going to be epic.”
