New Energy At New South Radio

• After an exhausting and thorough (and thoroughly exhausting) nationwide search, New South Radio, Inc. of Jackson, MS is excited to announce that Matt Mony is joining legendary Top 40 WYOY (Y101) as PD/Brand Manager, replacing Louie Cruz, who left earlier this Spring. Mr. Mony (left) was most recently on-air at Local Media San Diego’s XHTZ (Z90.3)/San Diego, and previously served as APD/MD/afternoon driver at Inland Northwest Broadcasting Top 40 KZFN (ZFun 106), serving Moscow, ID-Pullman, WA.

Mony, who starts at the end of June, commented, “I am beyond grateful and excited to join this huge, iconic brand. I’m also so grateful to work with Y101 GM/Market Manager Bob Lawrence. It’s going to be amazing and we’re going to have a ton of fun.”

But wait… there’s more! Y101 is equally excited to announce the elevation of Jenn Ryan (center), co-host of Y101’s Jenn & Bus morning show to APD. As Bob Lawrence notes, “Jenn has worked incredibly hard over the last 18 months and has truly stepped up as interim PD.” Ryan remarked, “I’m so looking forward to assisting Matt as APD, especially after just coming off our win as ‘Mississippi Station of the Year.’ These are very exciting times for us at Y101.”

One last, but equally important addition to the New South Radio Management team is the appointment of market veteran Jan Michaels as Promotion Director for the six-station cluster. Ms. Michaels (right) notably spent nearly three decades across the street with iHeartMedia Jackson until November 2021. Lawrence noted, “Jan is a promotional dynamo and knows virtually everyone in town. She is an incredible asset and we are so lucky to have her join our team. I couldn’t be more thrilled with all these terrific people.”
