Promotion Party At WPOR/Portland
• We teased this news yesterday, and now, it has been deemed official via an authorized press release from Saga’s Portland Radio Group: Veteran air talent Jon Shannon has indeed been elevated to Program Director of Country 101.9 WPOR/Portland, ME.
It’s fair to say that Shannon (left) knows his way around the station better than most — he joined WPOR in 1996 and has anchored the WPOR morning show (currently Jon, Joe & Courtney) for the past 26 years. Oh, and Shannon was previously WPOR PD from 1997 to 1998.
Shannon replaces Jonathan “JR” Ruppel, who left last month and returned home to Michigan as Director of Content for Townsquare Media’s Lansing group and PD of Country 100.7 WITL. Shannon can be congratulated at jonshannon@wpor.com.
But Wait! There’s More! Brandon Clay (right), who has worked part-time for WPOR and sister WMGX (Coast 93.1)since graduating from Curry College in Milton, MA last year with a degree in Radio and Audio Production has been upgraded to full-time status and will now host afternoon drive on WPOR and assist Shannon with music selection and scheduling.
