‘Alexa? Book A Flight To Vegas’
With all of the provocative talk circulating lately about the Alexa voice technology that powers the popular Amazon Echo device — (among its many uses, its possible impact on radio ratings), the upcoming NAB Show has scheduled a well-timed session — the “Alexa Skill Building Bootcamp” will be held Saturday, April 22 from 12:30-5pm at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Designed for software developers and non-developers alike, the “Alexa Skill Building Bootcamp” will provide participants with an in-depth overview of voice-user technology. The program also offers as a take-away the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK.) — a collection of the tools, code samples and application programming interface that enables the technology. Attendees will also gain useful experience in Amazon Web Services and related background applications and systems
As NAB Chief Technology Officer Sam Matheny explains, “Through Alexa’s voice-user interface, consumers are engaging with content in entirely new ways. Audiences can instantly play music, control smart home devices, receive news, weather and other information on a wide range of Alexa-enabled devices. Attendees will receive the background and know-how necessary to build experiences that allow their audiences to engage with their content through this emerging platform.” This session is free for NAB Show registrants.
