New Day Dawns At KINK/Portland
Alpha Media’s heritage Triple A KINK/Portland, OR has assembled the newly minted team of Corey Foley and Mitch Elliott to do mornings, starting May 2. They will succeed existing morning duo Cort Johnson and Sheila Hamilton, who will be transitioning into separate roles across the hall on FM News sibling KXL. Ms. Foley (left) is a Florida native who got her radio start at WLLD (Wild 94.1)/Tampa. She later worked with Dave Ryan at KDWB/Minneapolis, followed by a move to San Francisco, hired by current Alpha Media EVP of Programming Scott Mahalick at former Entercom Country KBWF (95.7 The Wolf). Foley most recently co-hosted the morning show on CBS Radio Country KILT (100.3 The Bull)/Houston until 2014. Foley remarked, “I’m very excited to work with Scott again, as well as [PD] Sean Demery and Mitch Elliott. It’s an amazing team and I’m truly blessed to be a part of it.”
Elliott (right) is a native of Atlanta who notably spent 16 years at Cox Radio’s former WFOX/Atlanta, working his way up to APD/afternoons. He later spent three years in mornings at KLSY (Mix 92.5)/Seattle before finding his forever home in Portland, OR, enjoying a 10-year stint in afternoon drive across the street at Entercom Hot AC KRSK (105.1 The Buzz). Elliott stated, “It only took me two and a half decades, but I’ve finally landed my dream gig at KINK! I look forward to working with the incredibly talented team to keep KINK the amazing radio station it has been for years!” Mahalick commented, “We are elated to have found our soul mates to pair with Portland’s iconic KINK brand for mornings. Corey and Mitch are two uniquely talented, entertaining hosts with huge passion for the music, Northwest lifestyle and a love for the arts.” Demery remarked, “Not only are they very competent morning show hosts, Corey and Mitch are extremely fun to be around and will bring outstanding energy and charisma to KINK Mornings.”
