NAB Crystal Winners, Delilah Honored
• The NAB revealed the 10 winners of the 30th Annual Crystal Radio Awards. These Crystal Radio Award recipients were chosen among 50 finalists who were honored at Tuesday’s NAB Show Radio Luncheon in Las Vegas. Since 1987, the NAB Crystal Radio Awards have recognized radio stations for their outstanding year-round commitment to community service. The 50 finalists were selected by a panel of judges representing broadcasting, community service organizations and public relations firms.
Here are your 2017 Crystal Radio Award Winners (which include a rare double win for Hubbard Radio Cincinnati) — KMOX-AM/St. Louis, WREW-FM and WUBE-FM/Cincinnati, KRMG-FM/Tulsa, OK, WTOP-FM/Washington, WBLS/New York, WDNS-FM/Bowling Green, KY, WYCT-FM/Pensacola, FL, WHUR-FM/Washington and WZUS-FM/Decatur, IL.

• Some other cool stuff also happened during Tuesday’s NAB Show Radio Luncheon, sponsored by ASCAP — the keynote address was delivered by Scott Burnell, Global Lead for Business Development and Partner Management of the Ford Developer Program at Ford Motor Company, and Premiere-syndicated personality Delilah was inducted into the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame — the first time a woman has been chosen in the last 35 years.
Delilah commented, “My career, some would say my entire life, revolves around storytelling. It’s what I do. There are so many PDs and GMs who have been good to me, encouraged me and gave me an opportunity to tell stories. That turned into great ratings, and an amazing, ongoing relationship with the audience. My thanks to everyone involved, and to the NAB, for allowing me such an honor.”
This marks the third prestigious honor in the past year for Delilah, who celebrated the 30-year anniversary of her nighttime radio program last year. In 2016, Delilah also received the NAB Marconi Award for “Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year” and was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame.
