WKCQ’s Jim Kramer Calls It A Career

• After nearly 35 years with MacDonald Broadcasting Country WKCQ (98 KCQ)/Saginaw, MI, most of that time in morning drive (followed by a recent brief run in afternoons), market legend Jim Kramer has retired. “Jim’s run is impressive! His ability to connect with a community should be taught at Specs Howard,” said Operations Manager Jason Addams, who took over the morning show in February when Kramer’s longtime co-host Barb Sheltraw retired after her own remarkable 45-year run with 98 KCQ. Adams added, “It’s a daunting task to step into mornings next, but here we go.”

Addams also announced that former WRIF/Detroit midday personality Lynn Marie Koon is now doing afternoons, while Seth Justice, a veteran of WRKZ (99-7 The Blitz)/Columbus, OH is now live at night. “Lynn’s passion and performance are exemplary and we are beyond lucky to have her talents on this new team,” said Adams. Koon will continue to lend her tracking skills to WBXE (Rock 93-7)/Cookeville, TN.

Adams added, “Despite our staff changes, the 98 KCQ brand continues to win fans and advertisers! Our team is passionate about serving Mid-Michigan! Oh… and we no longer have any openings… Did I just jinx myself?”
