Hall Of Famer Henry Santoro!
• Sending our best wishes to Boston radio icon Henry Santoro, News Anchor & Host at Boston’s GBH News, who will be honored this weekend with his induction into the New England Music Hall of Fame (NEMHOF). According to his official notification letter from NEMHOF, Santoro was selected for his “inspiration, contribution and commitment to artistry, music and the excellence of the New England music scene.”
Santoro will be the recipient of the coveted Wailer Award, which is described as being “given to inductees for their musical dedication to the New England scene and surrounding community. The wooden base is made from various boats and ships found in the shipyards throughout New England. The iron whale tail was crafted with a blacksmith’s hammer and forged specifically for this award. With this award, you represent and embody our mission, which is to ‘unite, educate, promote and preserve’ the integrity of New England’s music history. With this award you will always carry a piece of New England with you.”
Santoro is probably best known for his 29 years of service with the late, legendary WFNX/Boston, followed by a three-year stint as News Director/morning host at RadioBDC, the live-streaming Alternative station that was powered at the time by The Boston Globe‘s Boston.com. For the past nine years he has proudly served as a News Anchor & Host at Boston’s GBH News.
The induction ceremony is scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Regent Theater in Arlington, MA.
