Karson & Kennedy & Audacy Re-Up
• Audacy Boston proudly announced multi-year contract extensions with Karson Tager and Kennedy Elsey to keep them locked into mornings on Hot AC WWBX (Mix 104.1)/Boston, where Karson & Kennedy have driven the market to work for the past 14 years.
However, their relationship dates back much longer than that, as Karson relates to RAMP: “Kennedy and I first met in 1998, when she was cast in a summer theater show and I was volunteering on the technical side of the show. After about six months I convinced her to come to work at WQSM/Fayetteville part time. We became very good friends, and when I landed a morning show at WHTF/Tallahassee in 2003 I asked Kennedy to join me. Unfortunately she said yes… LOL.” The duo was hired at Flinn Top 40 WHBQ (Q107.5)/Memphis in 2004, and that four-year success propelled them to Boston in early 2009.
“In December 2008, my wife Lana and I drove into Boston with Kennedy,” Karson recalls. “We had no winter coats, and I had a head full of hair. 16 years later, I’m bald but can finally afford a good winter jacket. God and life are good. We’re also very grateful to the entire team behind the scenes for their support.” Kennedy commented, “I came to Boston with two cats and my two friends excited (and terrified) for something new. The cats ran away, but Karson and Lana stuck with me through thick and thin. We are honored to make you laugh every morning. It’s a gift I get to open every day, and I’m so grateful.” Karson adds, “If my math is right… as of January 2024 we will be a 21-year-old show!”
Karson, Lana, and their son Barrett live in Charlestown, where they stay deeply involved with several community organizations. Kennedy grew up in suburban Chicago and graduated from Drake University with a double major in Theater and Psychology. She uses her time behind a microphone to fight fiercely to stop the stigma that goes hand in hand with mental illness. She is on the board for Samaritans, fosters puppies for Great Dog Rescue New England, and rappels down buildings for the Special Olympics.
