Andy Bloom Guilty Of Criminal Sexual Conduct
This horrific news was initially reported by the popular Philadelphia sports blog Crossing Broad, which notes that authorities were first contacted about this situation in July 2023, and Bloom made his first court appearance in January 2024. He entered a not guilty plea in April 2024 and went on trial last month. Nine days later, the jury returned two guilty verdicts: Count I: Criminal Sexual Conduct-Contact-Person Under 16 – Significant Relationship – Multiple Acts Over Time; and Count II: Sexual Conduct-Contact-Person 14-16 – Position of Authority.
Bloom notably programmed the late WYSP/Philadelphia when it became the first outside affiliate of The Howard Stern Show in 1986. He also programmed KLSX/Los Angeles, and later served as OM of CBS Radio Sports-Talk 94 WIP-FM and News-Talk 1210 WPHT/Philadelphia from 2007 until December 2015. After a four-year radio hiatus, Bloom headed home to the Twin Cities as OM of Entercom News-Talk 830 WCCO-AM, Country KMNB and Adult Hits KZJK, a short-lived stint that lasted from April to November 2018.
Bloom is scheduled to be sentenced on May 13. Both charges carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison and/or fines ranging between $10,000 and 30,000 He is currently being held without bond and has been ordered to take a psychosexual examination. [Photo from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office]
