Remembering Kenny Lee Karpinski
Douglas and Karpinski first met in the late ’60s at WPPJ, the campus radio station of what was then Point Park Junior College (now Point Park University) in Pittsburgh. (The boys are pictured here on April 1, 1969, during what was billed as “The First Topless Radio Broadcast.”)
The colorful Douglas/Karpinski origin story was first chronicled in RAMP back in Jan. 2017.
Karpinski went on to work at WEEP and WDVE/Pittsburgh, WFYR/Chicago, and WAXY/Ft. Lauderdale, before landing at RCS, where he spent the next 27 years as a Support Manager, answering thousands of support calls. Douglas spent 16 years at RCS, and, appropriately, both gentlemen retired at the end of 2016.
In closing, Dwight said, “Just remember my friends, we only get so many minutes, so use them wisely. Yes, Kenny, please, REST IN PEACE.”
We strongly encourage you to please take a few minutes to read Dwight’s entire eloquent tribute to his longtime friend and colleague posted to Facebook.
