Florida Rock Fans Happily Boned Twice

• JVC Broadcasting is sharing the love and extending the reach of  WBON (92.1 The Bone)/Ft. Walton Beach, FL with the equally rabid Rock fans in scenic Panama City — Friday at 9am ET, sister WYYX (97X)/Panama City will morph into a Bone-a-fide simulcast, rebranded as 97.7 The Bone, joining forces to form one of the largest Rock outlets (in terms of coverage) in the state of Florida.

Described by John Caracciolo, Owner of JVC Broadcasting, as “a true AOR,” The Bone’s format will span more than six decades, featuring “thousands of songs from rock staples to something you’ve never heard before, and songs you haven’t heard in a few decades.”

“92.1 The Bone became a success because we listened to the listeners,” Caracciolo said. “They wanted more variety, fewer commercials, and a station that actually feels alive. Bringing The Bone to Panama City Beach wasn’t just a business decision — it was an answer to the audience. The people wanted something different and now they’ve got it.”

Matt Stone, Director of Programming, explained, “We’ve proven in Fort Walton Beach that creating rock radio for rock music fans works. Listeners are more engaged, they’re passionate, and they’re telling us every day this is what they’ve been waiting for. We can’t wait to share the Bone with Panama City and Southern Alabama.”

John Griffo, Market Manager for Fort Walton Beach and Panama City, noted, “Rock listeners are tired of repetition and endless commercials. At The Bone, we keep the focus where it belongs — on the music. That’s why we run limited commercials and feature three daily 92-minute commercial-free blocks. Since the launch in December our WBON-FM app has thousands of downloads all over the world. This isn’t just another radio station — it’s a movement — and now, that movement covers Panama City Beach, too.”

To welcome Rock fans in Panama City and neighboring Dothan, AL to The Bone, the stations will be blasting ten days of commercial-free rock starting Friday at 9am and rolling through Sunday, 9/7.

A new line-up of on-air talent will debut on Monday — 6-10am: Matt Stone with Wake and Bake Mornings • 10am-3pm: Ski with the “No Repeat Workday” • 3-7pm: Mary Jo • 7-Midnight: Eddie RBG • Midnight-6am: Roxy.
