NRG Sells Wisconsin Assets To Midwest
• A contract has been signed and an application is being filed with the FCC, as WRIG, Inc., an affiliate of Midwest Communications announces the impending acquisition of 10 Wisconsin radio stations and two translators from NRG Media.
The transaction bolsters Midwest’s current cluster in the Wausau market, as it will acquire WBCV-FM/Wausau, WI; WGLX-FM/Wisconsin Rapids, WI; WHTQ-FM/Whiting, WI; WYTE-FM/Marshfield, WI; and WRLO-FM/Antigo, WI, while the deal now moves Midwest into the Rhinelander, WI market with the pending acquisition of WLKD-AM, W289CT-FX & WMQA-FM/Minocqua, WI; WOBT-AM, W267AF-FX, WHDG-FM & WRHN-FM/Rhinelander, WI.
NRG Media, LLC, is a Delaware-based limited liability company headed by Mary Quass, who remarked, “We are proud of the great broadcasters in Wisconsin that we have proudly worked with and are happy they will continue serving Wisconsin with WRIG, Inc.” NRG owns more than 30 other radio stations across Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
Midwest Communications, Inc. and its affiliate WRIG, Inc., is a Wisconsin-based corporation headed by Peter Tanz, who commented, “Mary and her entire team have built an outstanding community service organization in Wisconsin. For over a century, the Wright family has proudly called Central Wisconsin home. We are honored to add NRG’s Wisconsin stations to our home market.” Midwest Communications owns 80 other stations across the Midwest.
