Homecoming Weekend At WRNR

• Legendary rocker 93.5 WRNR (WYRE-AM / W228ER)/Annapolis, MD announces three exciting additions to the weekend on-air lineup — starting this Saturday, April 11, two legendary Maryland musicians, Jimi Haha and Mark Bryan will take over the RNR airwaves. From 6-7pm, it’s Jimi Haha’s Mixtape, followed from 7-8pm by Mark Bryan’s Alt Vault. And leading into these new shows, from 3-6pm, it’s WRNR mainstay, Rich Fisher.

Jimi Haha is the lead singer/guitarist/songwriter for the band Jimmie’s Chicken Shack, which released 10 records in 33 years and toured the U.S. and Europe. Jimi also plays in the local bands Jarflys and Mend The Hollow.

Mark Bryan is best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of Hootie & the Blowfish, and co-writer of hits like “Hold My Hand,” “Only Wanna Be with You,” and “Let Her Cry.” Bryan said, “What an amazing opportunity to put my broadcast journalism degree back to work at the best sounding station in my home state.”

Rich Fisher (left) has been on the radio longer than he probably wants to admit — and somehow, he always ends up back at WRNR. He’s done just about every shift on RNR over the years and has also been heard on stations all across the region. Commenting on his latest RNR comeback, Fisher said, “I ain’t dead yet!”

WRNR is locally owned and operated by Cortona Media LLC, operated by managing partners Kirk Litton and Jay Stevens. Litton commented, “C’mon… when a couple of Maryland’s own musical legends Mark Bryan and Jimi Haha each say ‘Hey, I’d like to do a show on WRNR,’ you respond ‘Yes!’ as quickly as possible. And having Rich back is a huge plus. We may be questionably operated, but we see can’t-miss opportunities when they knock.”

Stevens added, “We’re thrilled to add another layer of excitement with Mark, Jimi and Rich. There’s a rich heritage of personality with this station and we don’t want to disappoint.”
