Atlanta’s Bull Welcomes Layfield & Calhoun

Layfield currently serves as Director of Programming and Brand Strategy for iHeart Country sister WFUS (US103.5)/Tampa, and, as we recently reported, Calhoun spent the past eight years with sister 98.7 WMZQ/Washington, most recently as MD and evening talent.
“These are two of the most exciting additions we’ve made to the Bull in recent years,” said Jill Strada, EVP of Programming for iHeartMedia. “Corey’s experience across multiple markets, combined with his passion for Country music and audience engagement, makes him a perfect fit for afternoons on 94.9 The Bull, while Ashley is one of the most respected programming leaders in our industry. Her vision, leadership and deep understanding of the Country audience will help take 94.9 The Bull to the next level. Together, Corey and Ashley represent the future of this brand, and we’re thrilled to welcome them to Atlanta!”

“Atlanta is one of the most dynamic and influential Country radio markets in the nation, and I’m honored to join the incredible team at 94.9 The Bull,” said Layfield, who will retain her Tampa duties and divide her time between both markets. “The station has a strong legacy with deep community roots, and I’m excited to build on that foundation, connect with the listeners and help drive the next chapter of growth and success for years to come.”
Calhoun joined WMZQ in June 2018, coming off a three-year stint with Country sister WAMZ/Louisville. Calhoun earlier programmed Cumulus Top 40 WLTO (Hot 102)/Lexington, KY and iHeartMedia Top 40 WQGA & Country WYNR/Brunswick, GA. Calhoun began his radio career as an intern at WWWQ (Q99.7)/Atlanta.
“I started my radio career in Atlanta, so the opportunity to return with 94.9 The Bull truly feels like a full-circle moment,” said Calhoun. “Nothing compares to coming home, and it makes it even more special that I’m joining this incredible team in what is a dream job for me.”
