Shawn Tempesta Wakes Up At KLUC/Las Vegas

• Audacy Top 40 98.5 KLUC/Las Vegas has tapped local radio and television veteran Shawn Tempesta as its new morning host, weekdays from 6-10am PT. The station has been without a permanent morning talent since Chet Buchanan announced his retirement in February after 27 years.

The move is a homecoming to Audacy Las Vegas for Tempesta, who served as APD/afternoons over on Hot AC sister KMXB (Mix 94.1) from 2010-2021 while also co-hosting The Morning Blend on KTNV-13 from 2010-2022 (receiving an Emmy nomination). He also tracked middays at WMJX (Magic 106.7)/Boston from 2020-2021.

Tempesta joined Beasley Las Vegas in early 2022 as morning host/Executive Producer of Aimee+Shawn at Hot AC KVGS (102.7 VGS). That partnership ended in Nov. 2025, when KVGS and Country KCYE swapped frequencies, and Tempesta crossed the hall to Classic Hits 96.3 KKLZ as morning co-host alongside Carla Rea. That stint ended in February during a round of Beasley restructuring.

A native of Revere, MA, Tempesta got his first radio break as a board op at WXKS (Kiss 108)/Boston. He later worked at WLNH/Laconia NH and WFHN/New Bedford, MA, and did part-time at WBMX/Boston. He also co-hosted The Rhode Show on Fox Providence in 2009 (and received an Emmy nomination).

“We are excited to welcome Shawn back to Audacy Las Vegas,” said JB King, Brand Manager of 98.5 KLUC. “Radio is at its best when it’s live, local and fueled by energy and genuine passion, and that’s Shawn.”

Tempesta commented, “To come back home to Audacy and get the keys to a Las Vegas radio institution is beyond humbling and exciting. I’m so pumped to wake the valley up each morning!”

Bonus Fun Fact: Tempesta’s wife Sammi is also in the family business and currently does afternoon drive across the street on iHeartMedia Adult Hits KYMT (Neon 93.1).
