Family First For Mix 106.5’s Jess Dutra

• There has been a major disturbance in Baltimore morning radio, as Jess Dutra, co-host of the popular Kramer & Jess morning show on Audacy Hot AC WWMX (Mix 106.5) announced she’s leaving after six years and relocating to Las Vegas with her husband Gerald, a.k.a. “Garage Boy,” to be closer to family. Her last day will be Friday, Sept. 4. Jess broke her news to their listeners on Friday. Listen HERE.

Dutra and co-host Steve Kramer joined Mix 106.5 in Sept. 2020, replacing Reagan & Bethany. Both are veterans of iHeartMedia Top 40 KHTS (Channel 933)/San Diego — Kramer previously hosted Kramer and Geena Mornings, and Dutra was a veteran of that show and its successor, Geena The Latina and Frankie V, where, as “Phone Screener Jess,” she served as co-host, producer, and social media coordinator. Kramer earlier co-hosted mornings at KMLE/Phoenix, WSJT/Tampa Bay and WILN/Panama City, FL. He also created and hosts the popular podcast, Certified Mama’s Boy.

In a staff memo, Director of Programming Tom Cook wrote, “Jess moved here with Kramer six years ago, tasked with building a fantastic morning show that connected with listeners on-air and on social media. That wouldn’t have been an easy task at any time, but especially was challenging in the middle of the pandemic. In the last six years, Jess engrained herself in Baltimore and Central Maryland. She bought all the Old Bay, Natty Bo, Ravens, and O’s gear, and lived her life on-air and on social with a transparency and openness seldom found in content creators. Jess, we’re gonna miss you, no doubt. But we’re all excited to see your next chapter as we follow along on IG.”

The good news: Kramer is staying, and the search for his new co-host now begins. RAMP reached out to Kramer, who told us, “I am so proud of Jess for following her heart. It’s always something she’s been great at. And I’m excited to find the next big star! Passionate people who are ready to share their lives on air and on social should reach out ASAP!”
