Henson, Adams On The Loose
• Attention alert employers: major market pro Gregg Henson is now a free agent — for the past five years Henson had been multi-tasking as Director of Programming of iHeartMedia News-Talk WPGB-FM and Sports-Talk WBGG-AM (970 ESPN)/Pittsburgh and Director of Sports Content for iHeartMedia Pittsburgh, and since last August was also co-hosting an afternoon drive sports show with Drew McCarthy and Jim Costa that is carried on sisters WDFN (1130 The Fan)/Detroit and WMAX (ESPN 96.1)/Grand Rapids, MI.
Henson broke the news himself in a July 1 Facebook post that read, “Unfortunately my job with iHeart Radio in Pittsburgh was eliminated. That means I won’t be on WDFN or 96.1 any more. Just a cold hard reality of radio in 2017. Thanks for listening and supporting the show, I’ll always appreciate it.”
Henson’s previous programming stops include WOWO/Ft. Wayne, IN, KVET/Austin, WPEN/Philadelphia, and WXYT and WDFN/Detroit. Henson is now ready for his next adventure in broadcasting and can be easily accessed at 248-219-3756 and Gregg.Henson@gmail.com. The Detroit News has some bonus coverage on Henson’s departure.
• Yesterday we also confirmed that Scott Adams had as PD of Foster Communications Top 40 KIXY/San Angelo, TX after a 2 1/2-year run. Adams commented, “I want to thank VP/GM Rick Mantooth & President Fred Key for being the most amazing people. They believe in the power of LOCAL radio and their passion for the biz is unreal. I’m incredibly appreciative both for their support and the chance to hang my name on the legacy of this legendary station. In the past 2 1/2 years, we stopped the bleeding, and then increased ratings by over 30% to put KIXY back on top where it belongs. I couldn’t be prouder of the effort put in by everyone to make that happen.”
Adams previously programmed WABD/Mobile, AL, where we are told the station achieved the best format rating numbers the market has seen in 10 years. Other on-air stops include Grand Rapids, Detroit and Lansing, MI, Kansas City and others. Adams is immediately available for programming and on-air opportunities and can be reached at 251-509-4001 or scotty1924onair@gmail.com.
