CBS Radio LA Realigns Programming Staff
CBS Radio Los Angeles announced a reorganization at the top of the cluster’s programming pyramid — the action starts with Chris Ebbott, currently PD of Classic Hits KRTH (K-Earth 101.1), who now adds oversight of Top 40 sister KAMP (97.1 AMP Radio). The move frees up SVP of Programming Kevin Weatherly to more broadly focus on the strategic direction and approach of the market’s five music formats, which also include the World Famous KROQ, Urban AC KTWV (94.7 The Wave) and Adult Hits KCBS-FM (93.1 Jack FM). Weatherly will continue to serve as PD of KROQ and Jack FM. He also works closely with CBS Radio’s corporate programming team, advising on the Company’s various Top 40 and Rock music initiatives and serving as format captain to its national portfolio of Rock, Alternative and Adult Hits stations.
Ebbott (left) reports to Weatherly and Dan Kearney, SVP/Market Manager, CBS Radio Los Angeles, and Weatherly (right) reports to Kearney and Chris Oliviero, Executive President of Programming, CBS Radio. Kearney commented, “Chris and Kevin are masterful program directors at the top of their field. This move will further strengthen 97.1 AMP, making it a standout Top 40 competitor in Los Angeles, while boosting the overall performance of our entire cluster.” Weatherly remarked, “Chris is an established programmer and has done an amazing job with KRTH the past few years. His experience and leadership make him the perfect choice to take on the day-to-day programming responsibilities at AMP Radio.” Along with these management changes, it’s important to note that Michelle Boros Nichols remains AMP Radio’s MD and John Michael remains AMP’s APD.
An elated Ebbott said, “It’s an exhilarating time to take on such a popular and well respected station as 97.1 AMP Radio in one of the most competitive markets in the country. I’m looking forward to working with the team to explore new opportunities that will help us grow the audience both on and off the air. I’m excited to work alongside Kevin, Dan and Chris and grateful that they’ve entrusted me to oversee a second station.”
