Remembering Glen Campbell

• Benztown has produced an audio tribute to the great Glen Campbell, who passed away Tuesday at the age of 81. Feel free to share this with your listeners.

• CMT pays homage to the life and legacy of music icon Glen Campbell in a 30-minute special, CMT Remembers Glen Campbell, which premieres today at 8:30am ET/PT (encore airings Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 8:30am ET/PT).

Hosted by CMT’s Cody Alan and Katie Cook, the news special includes tributes from Blake Shelton, Keith Urban and Reba McEntire, rare archival photos, interview and performances, as well as some of the best moments from The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, featuring Johnny Cash, John Wayne, Carol Burnett, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and more.

• United Stations Radio Networks (USRN) has shifted its programming lineup to pay tribute to Glen Campbell on its weekly show, Rick Jackson’s Country Classics. Campbell is credited with helping Country music cross over into the pop and mainstream musical landscape, and all of that will be covered in a special episode — Remembering Glen Campbell will air the weekend of August 26 & 27. The entire three-hour show will be comprised of Campbell’s music, his greatest hits and his amazing story. Rick Jackson’s Country Classics is programmed, written and hosted by Rick Jackson who also serves as its Executive Producer.

• In one of his last radio interviews, Campbell, an Arizona resident and frequent guest on the syndicated Johnjay and Rich show, spent some time on the phone with Johnjay and Rich, discussing living next to Johnjay’s father-in-law and Rich’s unnatural obsession with all things “Rhinestone Cowboy.” The audio clip is posted at johnjayandrich.com.

As Rich Berra explained to RAMP, “Glen agreed on the spot to sing along with the show while I played guitar for him. This is a peek at the generous spirit and constant showmanship of one of music’s most legendary heroes. Thanks for the music and memories, Glen… May you rest in peace.”
