As Irma Approaches, Harvey Aid Continues

Alpha Media stations continue to support Hurricane Harvey relief efforts through the American Red Cross. Local markets have also set up additional donation drives, Radiothons and fundraisers — Classic Hits KXGL (100.9 The Eagle) and Country KGNC/Amarillo, TX, partnered with Street Volkswagen to get pet food and supplies to families and animal shelters in Dallas & Houston. Eagle morning hosts Jamey & Morgan and KGNC morning duo Jason & Nancy did remotes that generated two tons of supplies and $20,000 in cash.

Alpha Media’s Biloxi-Gulfport stations WGBL, WQBB, WXYK, WCPR, WTNI and WXBD partnered with the City of Gulfport to collect supplies, filling over four 18-wheelers. Ricky Mitchell, VP/Market Manager of Alpha Media, Biloxi/Gulfport, said, “As a recipient of donations 12 years ago after Hurricane Katrina, the people on the Gulf Coast know better than anyone what is needed in their time of loss. The people of the Gulf Coast are the most giving people I have ever been around.”

Alpha Media’s Palm Springs stations, in partnership with a local TV station raised $115,000 for American Red Cross. KDGL (106.9 The Eagle), KPSI (Mix 100.5) and KDES (98.5 The Bull) did live remotes in the parking lot to drive traffic to the location. And now, as Hurricane Irma approaches, Alpha Media will continue to collect donations for the American Red Cross.
