Conclave To Honor Paul Jacobs

UPDATED: The Conclave, which this year celebrates 44 years of educating radio broadcasters, announced that it will present its highest honor — the 2019 Rockwell Award — to Paul Jacobs, President of Jacobs Media & jācapps. Jacobs will receive the Rockwell on June 20 during The Conclave’s upcoming 44th Summer Learning Conference, which runs June 19-21 at its new location, Delta Hotels Minneapolis Northeast. Since 1989, The Conclave has presented The Rockwell Award — a lifetime achievement award to an individual of unquestioned accomplishment.

In making the announcement, Conclave Board Chair, Lori Lewis said, “The Rockwell Award honors those who have made a lasting impact on our storied industry. Paul has, and continues to do just that.”

Jacobs began his broadcast industry career in sales at WNIC and WRIF/Detroit before moving into management at KZEW/Dallas and back in Detroit at WDFX prior to joining his brothers Fred and Bill at Jacobs Media, the premier consulting and research company. Since 1991, Jacobs has helped steer the company as it has become a significant influencer in the radio business in the areas of digital transformation, the connected car, mobile and more. In 2008, Jacobs became the President of jācapps, which today is the largest developer of mobile applications for the radio industry. Jacobs is also the past Board Chair of Greater Public and the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Foundation. In 2016, he was inducted into the Michigan Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Jacobs remarked, “Receiving this award is truly rewarding and a high mark in my career in radio. I have been a big fan of the work the leaders of The Conclave had done for our industry for decades, and to be acknowledged by them is truly an honor.”

Prior recipients of the Rockwell Award include author and consultant, Valerie Geller; Ginny Morris, CEO of Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc.; Mary Quass, CEO of NRG Media; Duke Wright, CEO of Midwest Communications and John Gehron, COO/Chairman of AccuRadio, to name but a few.
