Elvis Immortalized In Cement

We were honored and privileged to have been invited to witness a bit of radio history yesterday, as Elvis Duran received his well deserved star on the legendary Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Elvis was certainly saluted in style during the ceremony, with a heartfelt speech by Epic Records Chairman L.A. Reid and Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who delivered a hilarious tribute, generously taking the time on his birthday to come out and show his love and support for his longtime friend. Making yesterday’s festivities even more special, Elvis was also presented with a special plaque from the City of Los Angeles commending him on his star, the 2603rd such star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In case you are in the neighborhood, Elvis’ star is located in front of the Redbury hotel near the iconic intersection of Hollywood and Vine.

Immediately following the star ceremony, we all crossed the street to the Capitol Records building for an exclusive post-game reception inside Capitol’s historic Studio B. As one would expect, knowing his generous nature, Elvis also transported his entire cast and crew out from New York to share in the joy of this unique honor.

Once inside this iconic studio, Elvis was officially welcomed into the elite Hollywood Walk Of Fame club by a fellow radio industry honoree, the legendary “Shotgun” Tom Kelly. Elvis and RAMP‘s Kevin Carter also swapped some war stories from their time working at competing San Antonio radio stations in the mid-’80s.
