HOF Honor For ‘The Big Ticket’

Dan “The Big Ticket” Barreiro, a fixture on iHeartMedia Sports-Talk KFAN 100.3/Minneapolis for 30 years, will be inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame this Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Pavek Museum.

Barreiro anchors Bumper to Bumper with Dan Barreiro weekdays from 3-6:30pm and Sunday Sermons with Dan Barreiro Sundays from 9-11am and is known as “The Big Ticket” due to his longtime ratings success. Barreiro also co-hosts Enough Said on Friday nights on KMSP-TV (Fox 9).

Born in Gary, IN, Barreiro got his start as a newspaper columnist, working at the Dallas Morning News, Atlanta Journal Constitution and Louisville Courier-Journal before serving as a sports columnist at the Minneapolis Star Tribune for 17 years. He joined KFAN in 1992. “Dan epitomizes the make-up of a tremendous talk show in the Twin Cities,” said Greg Alexander, Market President of iHeartMedia Minneapolis. “He puts together compelling interviews and has the ability to break down any and every topic to entertain our listeners. He is a true talent.”

Gregg Swedberg, SVP of Programming for iHeartMedia Minneapolis, noted, “There isn’t a radio personality who has had the kind of ratings success over the last three decades than Dan Barreiro. He has done it by hosting intelligent, entertaining, and compelling radio. He’s more than the ‘Big Ticket’ — he’s the blueprint.”

KFAN PD Chad Abbott said, “Dan Barreiro has been the voice of Minnesota sports and big events for over 25 years on KFAN. His ratings dominance and social following proves how trusted he is as a respected voice for MN.”
