• Cox Media Group (CMG) Houston Radio has been awarded the Bonner McLane Public Service Award for outstanding public service in the Large Market Radio Category from the Texas Association of Broadcasters (TAB). The Bonner McLane Public Service Awards were created to recognize television and radio stations’ outstanding contributions and service to their local communities.
CMG Houston’s stations — Classic Rock simulcast KGLK & KHPT (The Eagle), Country KKBQ (The New 93Q) and Classic Country KTHT (Country Legends 97.1) — were honored for the 2016 Cares for Kids Radiothon, which helped raise $655,329 to benefit Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston. “I don’t know of another industry that consistently does more for their communities than local broadcasters,” said Mark Krieschen, CMG Houston VP/Market Manager. “It’s an honor for Cox Media Group Houston to be recognized as a leader in serving the needs of our communities.” The award will be presented to CMG at the 2017 TAB Convention and Trade Show on August 10 in Austin.
