His legendary voice was heard on WRKO/Boston under his Bill Drake-assigned name “Bobby Mitchell,” and he later reverted to his real name at WABC/New York. Smith returned to Boston in 1974 and spent nearly 20 years at WHDH, WVBF, WBZ, WRKO, WROR, WKKT and WODS. Smith has continued to work as a voiceover artist.

Dick Rakovan was named GM of WPRO AM & FM in 1974, and over the next five years captained WPRO-AM’s defense against aggressive competitors WJAR and WGNG; he notably took half-automated PRO-FM live and local 24/7 against newcomer JB105. Rakovan is a retired SVP of the Radio Advertising Bureau. • Myrna Lamb was an astrologer, published author and teacher who hosted shows on WHJJ and WPRO, first on astrology, then a general advice show syndicated on NBC and broadcast on 300 radio stations from 1990-93.
