McCoy Exits KJ103, Other PD News

McCoy Mike• In what can be charitably described as a shocking development, RAMP has confirmed that Mike McCoy, the longtime radio mayor of Oklahoma City has been let go from his PD position at iHeartMedia Top 40 KJYO (KJ103) after 28 years with the station and perennial No. 1 ratings. We understand an announcement regarding McCoy’s successor will be coming soon.

Prior to landing at KJ103 in 1989, McCoy plied his trade at the late KNMQ/Albuquerque, NM, WBZZ (B94)/Pittsburgh, WNCI/Columbus and KLUC/Las Vegas. McCoy can be reached at RadioMcCoyOKC@yahoo.com.

Miller Wesley 2017 Wesley Miller has come home to Youngstown, OH as the new PD of iHeartMedia AC WMXY (Mix 98.9) and Top 40 WAKZ (95.9 Kiss FM). Miller will also do the morning show on Mix 98.9. Miller returns to the area after a successful 12-year stint as PD/morning host at Forever Media Country WGYY (Froggy 100.3)/Meadville, PA. His earlier career stops include KQOL/Las Vegas as well as WKDD/Akron, OH, where he once worked with the guy who just hired him back — Keith Kennedy, now Area SVP of Programming for North Ohio.

“Returning to the town I grew up in to host a morning show is a dream realized for me,” Miller said. “I look forward to starting my next chapter with iHeartMedia, and working with Keith Kennedy again.” Kennedy added, “Wes is a warm personality both on and off the radio. We’re glad he’s back home and is no longer required to use the name ‘Danger Frog’ on the air.” Miller succeeds former Mix PD Jeff Kelly, who left in January, while Kennedy gratefully hands over his WAKZ PD key ring so he can better focus on his regional duties.
