Tomorrow: Geena The Latina Day!

• Congratulations to Geena The Latina, co-host of Kramer and Geena Mornings on iHeartMedia Top 40 KHTS (Channel 93.3)/San Diego, who will be honored tomorrow by the City of San Diego! The city will officially proclaim Tuesday, April 17, 2018 as “Geena The Latina Day” during a special ceremony at City Hall.

San Diego City Council President Myrtle Cole will honor Geena for her work with girls and young women in the local community. Geena is an active volunteer with local organizations and founded the Fearless Empowerment Conference in 2017. The annual event assembles successful women from the community to share their journey and inspire hundreds of teenage girls to be fearless and confident leaders. “We are so excited to proclaim a day for Geena,” said Council President Cole. “Not only does she give so much back to the girls in the community, but she also brightens our mornings on the radio.”

Geena has been through more than most in her young life, having had two teenage brothers killed due to gang violence. She was the first in her family to graduate from a four-year university and was also the founding president of the first-ever Latina-based sorority Sigma Lambda Gamma at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she also received a softball scholarship.

Geena began her career at KIIS-FM/Los Angeles as a red-carpet reporter and worked with many of L.A.’s top radio shows before making the move to San Diego in 2006. “I am beyond honored to receive an official day here in San Diego,” she said. “Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that I’d receive such an award. I have lived in San Diego for almost 13 years now and it has become my home. From day one, everyone here has welcomed me with open arms and supported me. I have had a chance to meet so many of our wonderful Channel 93.3 listeners and you guys have always been so nice and welcoming and for that I am truly grateful.”
