Grin & Bear It
In early July we first told you about the “Teddy Bear Patrol,” a collaborative effort between Bonneville AC KOSI/Denver and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. The plan was to collect a bunch of teddy bears and distribute them to area first responders (Police, Fire, EMS) to help comfort children who have been involved in traumatizing situations. We are very pleased to report that, after seven weeks, generous KOSI listeners have donated over 3,500 new teddy bears, and if you look carefully, somewhere in this photo you will find the Bonneville Denver staff surrounded by some of the cuddly collectables.
This past Saturday, August 26, these adorable bears found a new purpose — KOSI air personalities Sean Henry, Denise Plante, Jackie Selby and Murphy Huston helped hand out all of these the new bears to Denver area first responders at a special “Teddy Bear Patrol Community Party” at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children. “Sometimes a small act of kindness can have a big impact,” said KOSI PD Andy Holt. “When a child has been through a traumatic experience — a kind word, a holding hand and a teddy bear can really make a difference. We’re so grateful to the Mile High City’s amazing first responders who provide caring, aid and life-saving skills every day. And, we thank our KOSI listeners for their heartfelt generosity.” Based on the success of this debut effort, planning is already underway for Teddy Bear Patrol 2018!
