Heroic Horses Help Healing

• It was a pleasure catching up with Erin Bristol (pictured, below), PD of Townsquare Media KRUF and KVKI/Shreveport, LA and the morning co-host on KXKS (Kiss Country 93.7), who reached out and shared with RAMP the amazing initiative that she is helping to spearhead — the Hero Horse Therapeutic Riding Center, with the help of fellow horseman “Shotgun” Ken Shepherd, known and loved for his many years with KTUX (and proud father of entertainer Kenny Wayne Shepherd), prominent local entrepreneur and advocate Cathy Zahn and her daughter, longtime horsewoman Heather Zahn, and local lawyer and philanthropist, John Harris.

Hero Horse is part of an effort to create more available services to individuals on the Autism Spectrum and all others who could benefit from the healing power of horses. As we speak, Bristol and Heather Zahn are working to obtain their official therapeutic riding instructor credentials through PATH Intl. as well as their certification as Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning. Hero Horse’s 501(c)3 status is currently pending with the IRS, and extensive work is being done to improve the Hero Horse facilities, getting it ready for use with the help of Woody’s Home for Veterans and the Boozefighters MC.

As the colorful brochure reads, “We cannot express our thanks and appreciation enough for the folks who have already stepped forward to help us in our endeavors. But we still need help, from both volunteers and donors. Please contact us today! We’d love to have you become a part of the Hero Horse story!” For more information about this most worthy cause, please call 318-575-0024, email herohorsetherapy@gmail.com or message them via their Facebook page.
