Scripps Milwaukee Sends Harvey Relief
Relief efforts for all of those affected by the ongoing damage caused by the former Hurricane Harvey extend far beyond Texas. The fine folks at Scripps Milwaukee organized a fundraiser on Monday afternoon to collect much-needed funds for disaster relief. Staffers from WTMJ-TV (Today’s TMJ4), News-Talk WTMJ-AM and WKTI (94.5 KTI Country) manned the phone bank from 4-7pm to collect donations for the American Red Cross.
“People in Wisconsin are looking for a way that they can help the victims of the hurricane,” said Tom Langmyer, VP/GM for Scripps Radio in Milwaukee and VP of News/Talk/Sports for E.W. Scripps. “Using the power of local media we can combine our efforts to enable giving on a large scale and truly make a difference to support the American Red Cross.” And make a difference they did…
“What a night!” said J. Pat Miller, Director of Marketing & Innovation for Scripps’ Milwaukee Radio Operations. As Miller related to RAMP, “Our bank of eight phones rang non-stop for three hours! When it was all over we had collected $69,095 from our listeners and viewers to help the Red Cross to continue their amazing work for the people of Texas. Local TV and radio’s connection with the community comes through again. Our audience is the best!” Pictured, back row, (l-r): Today’s TMJ4 Sales Pros John Davis and Janet Ebert. Front row (l-r): J.
