‘Tis The Season

• This morning, KQKS (KS107.5)/Denver morning personality Tony V kicks off his annual weeklong Thanksgiving Food Drive. Now in its 14th year, this campaign has so far fed more than 10,000 disadvantaged families for the Thanksgiving holiday. KS1075 night jock Rosa Jad will also be lending a hand broadcasting from various locations around the city.

The beneficiary of this year’s food drive is Food Bank of the Rockies. “Having a strong partnership with a nonprofit that is ingrained within the community is key to identifying families in need this holiday season,” said Tony. “We are thrilled to be teaming up with The Food Bank of the Rockies again this year — they do great work within our community.”

Greg & The Morning Buzz, New Hampshire’s No. 1 morning radio show, announces its 27th annual Lend A Helping Can Radiothon to benefit 11 New Hampshire charities working to combat local hunger and homelessness. The 2017 campaign rolls this Thursday and Friday, Nov. 16 and 17, as Greg & The Morning Buzz, syndicated on WGIR (Rock 101)/Manchester, WHEB/Manchester, WLKZ (104.9 The Hawk)/Wolfeboro and WHDQ (Q106)/Claremont, NH extends its broadcast to a 13 1/2-hour Radiothon, from 5:30am to 7pm, using that time to encourage listeners to donate to Lend A Helping Can by calling the station or by participating in an online auction.

Auction items this year will include a VIP trip to the set of Dancing with the Stars, autographed guitars, sports memorabilia, restaurant certificates, concert tickets and other cool stuff. “New Hampshire folks will always help out their neighbors — all you have to do is make it easy for them to do so,” said Greg Kretschmar, host of The Morning Buzz, who created the initiative 27 years ago. “That’s why we do this — Scott, Laura, Kelly, Kayla and I feel very strongly about helping people in similar situations. Our listeners have been supportive and donated for the past 26 years. We couldn’t do it without them and all of our sponsors.”

Lend A Helping Can started 27 years ago as a canned food donation drive. As the support from the New Hampshire community grew, the fundraiser turned into a radio auction and a Radiothon. Last year Greg & The Morning Buzz raised over $151,000, and to date the show has raised over well over $1 million to combat local hunger.
