Condolences: Charlie Foxx
Radio and record industry vet Charlie Foxx passed away last weekend of an apparent heart attack. Foxx, whose real name was John Groves, enjoyed a long career that started at the legendary WBBQ/Augusta, GA in the early ’70s. Foxx later worked in Birmingham, AL and then made the transition to the label side, going to work for Warner Brothers as the label’s South Florida promo rep.
We are told that Foxx had been in poor health recently and was with his family in Atlanta when he peacefully passed away. The family says that in lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to to the American Heart Association or a charity of your choice. An announcement about a memorial service will be made soon. Foxx’s Facebook timeline is already filling up with warm remembrances from his many friends and former colleagues.
