Remembering Bob Garrett
We were saddened yesterday to learn of the untimely passing of radio pro Robert Dylan (Bob) Garrett, who died on Sunday, Feb. 12. Garrett had battled serious respiratory issues for most of his adult life. During his radio career Garrett worked at such famed radio stations as WHPT and WYNF/Tampa and WEBN/Cincinnati. Along with his former partner Jeff Zito, Garrett was half of the successful Zito and Garrett show, which quickly rose to become Southwest Florida’s No. 1 rated morning radio show when it reigned from 2001-2012 on Beasley’s former Active Rock WJBX (99X)/Ft. Myers, FL, which was later merged into WRXK (96 K-Rock).
“Bob was a dear friend & deep thinker — with a powerful spirit and voice for the ages, ” said Peter Gray, EVP/GM of Warner Bros. Records. “This is very sad news for all who knew Bob well, and simply heartbreaking for his family. Please encourage anyone who knew him to participate in — and spread the word of — the Bob Garrett Memorial Fund, which will provide relief to his family at this suddenly challenging time.” A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Bob’s wife, Lynne with these sudden, unexpected expenses, and towards their son Nathan‘s college education. Any donation will be gratefully accepted.
