Radio Show Update

• Grammy Award-winning country band Asleep at the Wheel will perform at the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show, sponsored by Experi, on Thursday, September 7. The event is part of the 2017 Radio Show, to be held September 5-8 at the JW Marriott Austin and produced by the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) and Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB). Founded by Ray Benson in Paw Paw, West Virginia in 1970, Asleep At The Wheel is now conveniently based in Austin, which is nice. The band owns 10 Grammy Awards, has put out 20 studio albums and placed 20 singles on the Billboard Country charts.

“Asleep at the Wheel is one of the most important sounds in country music,” said NAB Executive Vice President of Radio John David. “We’re honored to present a true taste of Austin in the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’ at the Marconi Radio Awards Dinner and Show.” The NAB Marconi Radio Awards recognize stations and individuals for excellence in the industry. A list of this year’s finalists is available here. As previously announced, top-rated syndicated radio personality Rickey Smiley will serve as the event’s emcee.

• And there’s more — The Peterson Brothers, an Austin-based funk-rock-blues band, will perform during the 2017 Radio Show’s Opening Reception, courtesy of BMI. The Opening Reception happens Tuesday, September 5 from 5-6:30pm at the JW Marriott Austin.
