Hello (Again), McFly!
• DC radio pro Tommy McFly is back in action — less than four months after McFly and several co-workers were downsized from Entercom’s former AC WIAD (94-7 Fresh FM)/Washington, McFly and co-host Kelly Collis are in the final countdown to the launch of what he creatively describes as “Tommy Show 2.0.” McFly and Collis made the announcement Wednesday morning at 7am ET during a Facebook Live session. The multi-platform broadcast of The Tommy Show debuts on Monday, Feb. 25, streaming at TommyShow.com and via the free Tommy Show app, available in the iTunes and Google Play stores.
“Tommy Show Family — we’ve missed you!” said McFly, who famously did nights at WRQX (Mix 107.3) for four years before joining WIAD in 2010. “Since we left old-school radio, the DC community kept us going with their love and support. Kelly and I knew we had to get back in your day as soon as we could. The Tommy Showapp makes that and so much more possible.” Collis said, “Reconnecting with my hometown of DC using a new and modern medium through an app is a dream come true. It truly allows us to interact with our radio family like never before using cutting-edge technology via your mobile device, computer, smart car in a flexible listening environment.”
To enable maximum audience engagement and creative sales opportunities for their sponsors, The Tommy Show is incorporating several cool Futuri Media innovations into the new show, including TopicPulse, the real-time, AI-powered show prep system; POST, the podcasting and on-demand system; Futuri Streaming and Futuri Mobile, upon which their mobile app was developed. ReelWorld is providing the show’s imaging.
Made in Washington, DC, The Tommy Show is produced in a state-of-the-art studio that allows their radio family to be part of the conversation. Events DC, the District’s official convention and sports authority will be one of the show’s first sponsors. Additional sponsors include Liberty Lorton, Carmine’s Italian Restaurant, Rio Washingtonian Center in Gaithersburg, MD, Downtown Silver Spring and Georgetown Cupcakes.
