ABC Audio Names Alesse EP/Podcast Prog.

Liz Alesse has been formally named Director and Executive Producer of Podcast Programming for ABC Audio.

The announcement was made in a staff memo from ABC Audio VP/GM Stacia Philips Deshishku that reads, in part, “As you all know, Liz has been leading our podcast team since last November. What started as a six-month stretch assignment has turned into a permanent role, and we couldn’t be luckier! Liz has already been able to leverage her understanding of the news division and relationships across the platforms on behalf of ABC Audio, working on recent podcasts including In Plain Sight: Lady Bird Johnson and Life Out Loud with LZ Granderson. She has big plans for the unit, including adding new titles and seasons to our existing podcast library.”

Philips Deshishku added, “Liz is a skilled producer in the control room, edit bay and in the field. She most recently served as a supervising producer with the Pennsylvania Avenue unit. While in that role, Liz took on special assignments that included leading site production of the spin room at the 2020 New Hampshire Democratic primary debate and the two presidential town halls in Philadelphia.”

Alesse began her career at ABC News in 2015 working for This Week with George Stephanopoulos. She got her start producing local news in her hometown of Albany, NY before moving to Boston to work for New England Cable News (NECN) and WGBH.

In closing, Philips Deshishku said, “Liz has been a true force since her arrival, from learning the intricacies of the business and the editorial nuances of podcasting to hiring and inspiring new team members. And she is just getting started. I look forward to what’s next for our talented podcasting team as they continue to grow our award-winning library.”  [Photo: ABC / Heidi Gutman]
