Continuous Cox Convergence

Cox Media Group (CMG) this week announced two sizeable executive moves — Cathy Gunther is upped to Market Vice President for Tulsa, OK and Dan Lawrie has been named Market Vice President for Jacksonville, FL. These appointments are part of CMG’s new philosophy of converging their radio and TV properties with multiple media platforms to strengthen news, sales and operational collaboration.

Gunther (left) was most recently VP/GM for CMG’s Tulsa TV stations, KOKI-TV (Fox 23 & MeTV) and KMYT (My 41). In her newly expanded role, Gunther will now oversee the converged Tulsa market that also includes the company’s radio brands — News-Talk KRMG (News 102.3 & 740), Classic Rock KJSR (103.3 The Eagle), Hot AC KRAV (Mix 96.5), Country KWEN (K95.5) and Spirit 105.7.

Laurie (right) was most recently VP/GM for CMG’s Tulsa radio cluster and now takes his talents to the company’s newly converged Jacksonville market — Top 40 WAPE, WOKV (News 104.5), Urban AC Hot 99.5 (WOKV HD2), Soft AC WEZI (Easy 106.5), Classic Hits WJGL (The Eagle 96.9), Urban Power 106.1 (WJGL HD2) and WXXJ (X102.9), along with WFOX (Action News Jax) and CBS 47 TV.

“Both Dan and Cathy are successful media veterans and proven leaders on the Cox Media Group leadership team,” said CMG EVP Bill Hendrich. “We are fortunate to have great leadership within CMG to promote from within for these two new critical roles as we converge our Jacksonville and Tulsa media markets. They will work with our teams in these markets to take our award-winning brands to new heights.”
