Cumulus Indy LMA Leads To Shrinkage

• At the stroke of 12:01am on Friday, March 1, Cumulus initiated the LMA of the three Indianapolis radio stations it is acquiring from Entercom — Top 40 WZPL, AC WNTR (107.9 The Mix) and CBS Sports affiliate WXNT-AM.

RAMP has learned that the personnel cuts have already begun — among those downsized include Market Manager Ben Hoffman, Marketing Director Jess Koetteritz, several people in the business office and at least one salesperson.

And according to our in-the-know friend Blaine Thompson, Editor of Indiana RadioWatch, the missing also include WNXT PD/afternoon personality Kent Sterling, WNTR APD/afternoon personality Kari “KJ” Johll and cluster Social Media Coordinator Chelsie Nickell, who have also been released.

Sterling joined WXNT in 2014 and was upped to PD in 2016. He notably spent 17 years across the street with Emmis programming News-Talk WIBCand Sports-Talk WFNI-AM. Johll got her start as a cast member on WZPL’s Smiley Morning Show, and later transitioned over to WNTR. Ms. Nickell joined the cluster as a Promotions Assistant and worked her way up to Administrative Assistant, and Social Media Coordinator. We are working on acquiring contact information from those who have been displaced.
