• Alpha Media has appointed Mike Hartel as Vice President of the company’s Mid-Atlantic Region. Hartel, a 24-year media veteran, will retain his existing role as SVP/Market Manager for Alpha Media’s Columbia, SC group. Alpha Media President & CEO, Bob Proffitt commented on Hartel’s elevation, saying, “Mike Hartel has shown an incredible leadership style in form, function and results since he joined Alpha three years ago. We are excited for Mike to share his considerable talent beyond Columbia to some of our other Southern markets. Alpha loves to promote from within and this is not only deserved, but will be incredibly well-received by our markets.”
Alpha Media EVP Eastern Region, Bill McElveen added, “Mike has done a remarkable job for us in Columbia and we’re looking forward to his positive influence in an expanded role in Alpha’s Eastern Region.” Hartel remarked, “I’m a big believer in what Alpha stands for as a company and what we have built so far. I couldn’t be more excited about partnering with our leadership team in the Mid-Atlantic portion of the Eastern Region. We have some amazing people and some incredible properties in this region and I cannot wait to get started.” In his newly enhanced position, Hartel will initially be working with the clusters in Savannah, GA-Hilton Head, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Greenville-New Bern-Jacksonville, NC, Fredericksburg, VA and Bluefield, WV.
• Big Machine Label Group has hired Matt Brum as Director, Digital Strategy and Social Media. Brum will report to BMLG CMO Mike Rittberg and be responsible for engineering digital and social strategies for Big Machine Records, The Valory Music Co., BMLG Records and Nash Icon Records. “We are so excited to be having Matt join the Big Machine family,” said Rittberg. “He lives the ‘digital world’ and we look forward to having his passion help drive our artists to… the next level™.”
Brum was most recently Social Media Manager for the Grand Ole Opry where he created content for the Opry’s over 1.5 million followers. “It has been my privilege to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry family and to be a part of the Opry story,” Brum said. “I’m ecstatic to begin this new journey with Big Machine Label Group and to continue to build upon BMLG’s solid foundation, innovative approach and unprecedented impact on our industry.
