Goldberg Elevated @ ABC Audio
• ABC News Radio midday anchor Scott Goldberg has been promoted to Director of News Programming at ABC Audio, beginning Monday, October 14.
The announcement was made in a staff memo from ABC Audio VP/GM Stacia Philips Deshishku, who said, in part, “Scott is a brilliant journalist with a trusted editorial voice who’s been recognized across the industry for his innovative storytelling. Just this year he won the National Edward R. Murrow Award for Sports Reporting, his third individual Murrow since joining the Audio department. He is intimately familiar with how we find and tell stories here at ABC News Radio and I’m excited for the new ideas that he will bring to our division — which he hasn’t been shy about sharing.”
After years in local TV and radio, Goldberg joined ABC News in 2011 as its NewsOnecorrespondent and segued to ABC News Radio in 2013, becoming midday anchor in 2016. Deshishku continued, “Since joining the Audio team Scott has touched almost every product we produce, from anchoring hourly midday radio newscasts and coverage of special events and breaking news, to doing two-ways with affiliates and substitute hosting the Start Here podcast.” She added, “We will conduct a search for a new midday anchor, but Scott will continue to report his signature features as a contributing reporter when the right stories come along.”
In closing Deshishku added, “I’m also pleased to announce that two of our leaders will take on new titles — Jon Newman will become ABC News Radio’s Managing Editor and will continue to lead the newsroom with his steady hand and sharp focus on the news. Tara Gimbel will become Deputy Managing Editor and continue to contribute to all aspects of our programming and news coverage.”
