Legends Live At Worldwide Radio Summit
• We want to extend our congratulations and thanks to Joel Denver, Sat Bisla, and the entire staff of All Access on the success of the 2018 Worldwide Radio Summit, which took place last week at the W Hollywood. Every year this important industry gathering grows larger, and draws a veritable who’s-who of industry executives.
One of the highlights for us was Friday afternoon’s closing Air Talent session, moderated by industry icon Scott Shannon of WCBS-FM/New York and featuring Chet Buchanan of KLUC/Las Vegas, the newly syndicated Dede McGuire of KKDA (K104)/Dallas; the syndicated Tino Cochino, based at KKFR/Phoenix and Woody Fife, host of the Premiere-syndicated The Woody Show, based at KYSR (ALT 98.7)/Los Angeles.
On a personal note, it was particularly gratifying to spend some time with “The Duke” — the legendary Dave Sholin, who, 20 years ago this month, took me out to breakfast, told me he was leaving The Gavin Reportand personally asked me to take his place as Top 40 Editor of the venerable trade publication. The rest, as they say, is history, which lead me into another vitally important 20-year relationship — it was at Gavin that Steve Resnik and I first joined forces as an editorial/sales team, and that partnership has continued through seven years at R&R, and now, in our 9th year at RAMP! — Kevin Carter
