Levy Named Exec. Director, Marketplace

Francesca Levy has joined American Public Media-owned Marketplace as Executive Director, Digital. In that role, she will manage the on-demand, social media and digital teams in addition to overseeing digital operations and distribution.

Levy most recently worked for Bloomberg, where she led the Podcast department and oversaw the transformation and expansion of Bloomberg’s podcast slate. The content her team produced earned such awards as podcast of the year, best business podcast, best business podcast for diversity and inclusion, and best international podcast.

Marketplace currently has a stable of successful original podcasts, including Make Me Smart, The Uncertain Hour and This Is Uncomfortable. In addition to supporting Marketplace’s library of on-demand content, Levy will be tasked with overseeing social media collaboration, enhancing the value of the brand’s web properties, expanding distribution and building Marketplace’s video franchise.

“Our prime considerations as we worked to fill this role were to find a collaborative leader who would be an outstanding resource for our staff and who would boldly move Marketplace forward,” said Marketplace GM Neal Scarbrough. “Francesca brings that as well as a proven track record working across the organization to develop winning content and growth strategies.”

Levy, who will be based in Marketplace’s New York office, commented, “I’ve admired the reporting at Marketplace for years. Whether on radio, on the web or in podcasting, the Marketplace brand has always represented breaking down business and financial content into what matters for most Americans. I’m excited to join the talented team driving this work forward.” [Photo: LinkedIn]
