Morgado Legally Upgraded At ASCAP
• ASCAP, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, announced the promotion of Gregory Morgado to Executive Vice President and Deputy General Counsel. The New York-based Morgado reports to ASCAP General Counsel Clara Kim.
Morgado joined ASCAP in 2015 and was promoted to Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel in 2018. He currently leads his Business and Legal Affairs team in protecting ASCAP’s legal and business interests in the areas of business development and strategy, technology and information systems, finance, international and marketing. He also provides ongoing support on ASCAP board governance matters and to ASCAP senior executives on employment and benefits matters.
Morgado recently played a key role working with the Strategy, Product, Technology and Repertory teams in developing and implementing Songview, ASCAP’s joint data platform for copyright ownership and administration shares with BMI.
Prior to joining ASCAP, Morgado worked at Viacom Inc. as Vice President, Counsel, Corporate Transactions and Securities, and as a corporate mergers and acquisitions associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. [Photo: Juan Patino Photography]
