Remembering Jonathan Reed

RAMP sends out our deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Jonathan Reed, PD of iHeartMedia Top 40 WNOK/Columbia, SC, who passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 24. We understand that Reed suffered a serious head injury after a fall in his apartment late last week and had been on life support since then. He died at 8:55pm Monday evening.

Reed was a longtime iHeartMedia fixture, and had been at the helm of WNOK since June 2016 — it was his second PD tour of duty there. Sandwiched in between were programming stints at sister WAEV (97.3 Kiss FM)/Savannah, GA and KHFI (96.7 Kiss FM) & KPEZ (102.3 The Beat)/Austin.

Reed’s programming experience also included a stop as APD/MD of WFKS (Kiss 95.1)/Jacksonville and MD stints at WRVQ (Q94)/Richmond and WZEE (Z104)/Madison. Earlier in his career Reed spent some quality time at such iconic radio stations as KQKQ/Omaha, KSLZ/St. Louis and the late, great WABB/Mobile, AL.

Reed is survived by his parents, Verla and Jerry Reed and a sister, Jerilyn. We are awaiting details on services, and in the meantime, if you want to know how loved JR was, please take the time and visit his Facebook page, which is rapidly filling up with remembrances from his many friends and colleagues past and present.
