NAB’s Ahmed Upped To VP

• VP stripes are the order of the day for Zamir Ahmed, Director of Media Relations at the NAB, who has been promoted to Vice President, Media Relations.

The announcement was made by Dennis Wharton, NAB Executive Vice President of Communications, who remarked, “We’re pleased to reward Zamir for his loyalty to NAB, his intellect and strong work ethic, and his excellent writing skills. He’s a terrific asset to our organization and to free and local broadcasting.”

In his newly enhanced VP position, Ahmed will shape messaging for NAB Communications in the public policy arena and serve as an occasional spokesman in dealing with trade and consumer press. He will continue to report to Wharton and work closely with Ann Marie Cumming, NAB SVP of Communications.

Ahmed joined NAB in February 2011 as Manager, Media Relations, following a two-year stint as deputy press secretary for the House Committee on Small Business. He was promoted to Sr. Manager, NAB Media Relations in July 2014, and his current role as Director, Media Relations in July 2016. He began his career in Washington as an intern in the office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) in 2008. Ahmed holds a B.A. in English from Middlebury College, and enjoys the distinction of appearing as contestant on Jeopardy in 2014.
